Alix of Bohemia
A well-traveled collection of vintage textiles and the spontaneous purchase of a sewing machine led to New York-born Alix Verley Pietrafesa making garments during her art history studies in Scotland. She created what she wanted to wear: original, handmade garments inspired by the women in her family, the rebellious 1970s, and the Bohemians of post-war Paris. Alix of Bohemia formally started in London in 2012. Over the course of a decade, Alix honed her craft by designing and tailoring bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces. In 2018, Alix began making seasonal collections, designed in New York and featuring natural fibers and techniques such as hand-embroidery, hand-weaving, hand-quilting, and hand-printing, the artisans ranging from India to Guatemala, Portugal to the United States.
